Our Story
Brogan’s Fire Helmet Headcovers was created by simply combining two passions, the fire service and golf. While participating in a local charity golf tournament with nearly 100 other firefighters, I noticed that as a profession we are seriously lacking a way to show department or company pride in our golf bags. As firefighters, we display bumper stickers and custom license plates on our vehicles. Our bodies are covered in fire related tattoos and apparel. So why is it that in a fire service golf tournament, it is impossible to know where someone is from, how long they served, what truck they ride, or even what rank they hold? Why not combine the single most customizable piece of our gear (the helmet), with the sport we just can’t help but love?
We started with a ball of clay and some cardboard, and after a few rounds of experimenting we agreed on a design and finalized our prototype. As we were finalizing our prototype and working on securing a manufacturer, Brogan, my unbelievably adorable daughter was diagnosed with Sagittal Craniosynostosis.
Brogan’s diagnosis motivated my wife Nancy and I to propel this idea forward. We feel that by naming this headcover after Brogan, we have created a small but meaningful platform to raise awareness for her condition. We are creating this product in Brogan’s namesake, so that as she grows she will have a product bearing her name to be proud of. We want her to be reminded of how strong she was as an infant. We want her to take pride in her scar and any small deformities that may not get fixed. Brogan’s Fire Helmet Headcovers will always be the foundation of this family business!
After experiencing the interest that we have with Brogan’s Fire Helmet Headcovers, as a family we decided to branch off and create a similar product for all of our brothers and sisters in the Police Force. We all know how sibling rivalries go, so the decision was easy to name this product line after our 2-year-old son Graeme. Stay tuned for updates on “Graeme’s Police Hat Headcovers” as we finalize this prototype and begin manufacturing.
